I am the inventrix (chick inventor) of the IMP. I'm an academic by training (
the whole Ivy League Ph.D. thing), but an inventor at heart.
One day a few years ago I bought an iPod and was immediately driven nuts by the earbuds...when they weren't in my ears. What do I do with these things?!? They snag, they tangle. They were always getting caught on my keys or hooked on something else in my purse...ARGH!
Sound familiar? 
I started working on the problem right away. After tinkering and tinkering I came up with the IMP= (i)Pod + (mp)3*solution.
What to do with your earbuds...when they're not in your ears.When I read that the mythical imp was mischevious, but could be tamed with the power of music I was sold on the name.
And my little belt WORKS! Your earbuds will be locked down and fully secured once you wrap the IMP around your cords and player. You can't shake them loose from the strap, you can drop your player with the IMP strapped in your bag. BUDS--Safe and Secure!
As the idea developed I decided to move beyond just useful (used to be a piece of black elastic) to stylish--which is where the design comes in. New materials (from elastic to neoprene--the stuff they make wetsuits out of...it stretches and takes patterns. YAY!)
The first two styles IMPortant (black) and IMPasto (multi-colored letters) are our initial foray into design, but we'll be running design contests in the future to allow all you great designers to be a part of creating the latest IMP looks. Stay TUNED!
I love my product and it is fun starting a business, but I'm really all about personal development and modeling what is possible. You have a dream, fight for it! Make it happen! Bring it to life! When I got my first carton of product and pulled out an IMP belt that had previously just been in my mind it was a WONDERFUL feeling. I want you to have that feeling too. Go! Do!
